Yvon & Guy Rautureau

The inheritance of a passion.

Pom d'Api is the story of a precious heritage transmitted from generation to generation.

Guy and Yvon, before transmitting with confidence the reins to the Shoemakers group themselves learned the profession from their father. The passion and their know-how made it possible to make the brand of children's shoes shine internationally, Creating a family inheritance that continues.

A family story….

Today the story continues to write with the Shoemakers group. When we ask the two founders with what look they see the brand and the group today? When we question Guy & Yvon on the beginnings of Pom of Api, they quickly refer to their childhood memories surrounded by their father And their grandfather, both shoemakers.

The small family business specializes in the high -end shoes, first in the men's sandal. The two brothers learn the job very early alongside their father, in La Gaubretière in Vendée, in a small workshop located just behind their house.

"During our school holidays, we worked in the workshop to help our parents, and this from around 11 years old: collage, stake, etc ... we wanted and we learned the job with our family"  underlines Yvon Rautureau.

"When we arrived in the 70s, Yvon and I had two different, complementary courses: a technical course and my brother, a more commercial course." Guy Rautureau

The passion of a profession ...

"The hand plays a lot. The shapes, the sole thicknesses are a bunch of things that are played out, the desire to do, to change things." Guy Rautureau

It was in the 1970s that the two brothers in turn joined the family business. They then decide to create the brand Pom d'Api, specialized in children.
When we ask them how they created the brand, they explain to us that they wanted "To make others differently ..."

While there are already more than 750 shoe manufacturers in France, Guy and Yvon have the will to bring a different vision to children's fashion, a more offbeat vision that will make young and old laugh. You have to find the key to stand out.

Shake up the codes ..

"The other brands generally made very tight, sobriety blue boots. We then decided to take the opposite penchant by offering First-steps flexible and laughter as a guide for our models " Guy Rautureau

The Rautureau brothers therefore choose to laugh with the drawing and create models inspired by adult trends to transpose them to a more childish fashion. They have fun with shapes, colors, and allow themselves to cultivate this difference which will allow POM to be quickly known and install the basics of its notoriety.

A story that continues to write ...

"If Pom d'Api hard, it's because it's a brand that has a story." Guy Rautureau

The two brothers took fashion, creativity and colors to the child's market. "Today, there are mothers and even grandmothers who have worn API. The brand has crossed two generations." Yvon Rautureau.

And when they are asked with what look they see the brand today?

"Very proud and very happy. The Shoemakers company is friendly. When we come here we are very happy to see that everyone smiles. There is a great atmosphere and people are passionate and creative. And that is very happy! Everyone has the eyes that shine and we feel the desire to do beautiful things. Guy and Yvon Rautureau
