How to care for children's shoes

To ensure that your children's shoes last a long time and retain their quality, it's essential to take regular care of them. Pomd'Api offers you quality models, but it's just as important to follow a few maintenance tips to prolong their life.

1. Waterproofing: Protect your shoes from first use

One of the most important things to do before wearing shoes is to waterproof them. This protects materials such as leather, suede and textiles from moisture, rain and stains. Use our waterproofing spray to create a protective barrier. Apply the spray regularly, especially after cleaning or when exposed to damp conditions.

Remember to reapply a coat of waterproofing spray after each cleaning or after several outings in the rain. This helps maintain the effectiveness of the protection and keeps your shoes looking like new.

2. Proper shoe drying

If your shoes get wet, let them air-dry naturally. Never expose them directly to a heat source such as a radiator, as this may damage the materials.

3. Gentle cleaning of children's shoes

Whether you choose leather, suede or canvas shoes, each material requires its own specific care:

  • Leather shoes: Wipe with a soft, slightly damp cloth to remove dirt. Use a mild leather cleaner or moisturizing milk once a month to nourish the leather and prevent it from drying out.

  • Nubuck shoes : Nubuck is more fragile, so use a crepe brush to remove dust and dirt. For stains, you can use a special eraser.

  • Canvas shoes: These models can be cleaned with a damp sponge and mild soap. Leave to dry in the open air, away from sources of direct heat.

Why is maintenance important?

Taking care of your child's shoes, whether they're their first shoes or models for older children, not only extends their life, but also preserves their comfort and support for the feet. With the right care and the use of products like our waterproofing spray, your Pom d'Api shoes will stay in perfect condition for longer.
