That's why we prioritize tanneries certified by the Leather Working Group (LWG) , an international benchmark for a more responsible leather industry.
What is LWG certification?
The LWG certification is the international benchmark for assessing the environmental and social performance of tanneries. Created in 2005, the Leather Working Group awards this certification following an independent audit.
The audit assesses the following: water discharge, water and energy consumption, chemical and discharge management, emissions, occupational health and safety, and traceability of hides back to their origin.
Why does this choice matter to us?
By choosing LWG-certified tanneries, we ensure an additional guarantee regarding the origin and production conditions of our leathers, in addition to our own requirements. It is also a way for us, alongside our partner tanneries, to commit to a process of continuous improvement aimed at reducing their environmental impact.
