Guided by the same high standards since its founding in 1973, the company Pom d'Api embodies shoemaking expertise and an attention to detail that have been passed down from generation to generation. At the heart of this expertise, our design studio in Chanverrie, in the Vendée region, brings each model to life Pom d'Api, driven by a simple conviction:
Every foot is different, so every shoe should be unique.
It is this commitment that drives our teams: to design shoes that adapt to each child’s foot shape, growth rate, and walking style, rather than imposing a one-size-fits-all design. This attention to detail is evident in every aspect—from the shape of the forefoot to the flexibility of the sole.
From Idea to Prototype
Every new model is created here. Our teams design and develop their own last shapes, tailored to all children’s feet—whether narrow, standard, or wide. They select the materials and then work with European partners to source leather.
Our employees then oversee production at our own factory Pom d'Api. Cutting the parts, stitching the uppers, assembling them on lasts, attaching the soles, and finishing: each step takes place in our factory, allowing us to maintain control over quality from start to finish. This close proximity enables our teams in the Vendée and our workshops to work together at every stage of production.
Before being added to the collection, each prototype is tried on and tested by children at our partner schools in the Vendée region as well as at early childhood care centers (EAJE). This is the best way to ensure that comfort and support meet the demands of everyday life, right from the very first steps.
