Designed in our R&D department and tested in advance on children’s feet, Yaka combines expertise and comfort to help children learn to walk with confidence.
What are barefoot shoes for babies?
A barefoot shoe is designed to replicate the sensation of walking barefoot, while protecting the baby's foot. It can be identified by three characteristics: a thin sole, great flexibility, and a wide toe box that allows the toes to move freely.
Why is Yaka a barefoot shoe?
Our Yaka model incorporates the key principles of the barefoot approach:
- A thin, flexible sole that allows children to feel the ground better and promotes a more natural gait
- A wide toe box to provide more space for the toes and support their natural positioning
- A flat insole ( removable and without an arch) with no difference in height between the heel and the front of the foot
A design built for flexibility
Yaka is constructed using the Ströbel method, a technique that contributes to its great flexibility. The upper is sewn directly to a very thin textile insole, without a rigid midsole. This construction is then combined with a rubber outsole to create a flexible, lightweight shoe that moves with the foot.

At what stage of walking should you choose Yaka?
Yaka supports children from the pre-walking stage through to their first independent steps.
- During the pre-walking stage, the child pulls himself or herself up to a standing position, holds onto furniture, and takes his or her first sustained steps. Yaka is designed to give children a sensation similar to walking barefoot: its thin, ultra-flexible, zero-drop sole allows the foot to feel the ground, gain traction, and find balance without hindering movement. Its wide toe box also gives the toes room to spread naturally, providing better stability with every step.
- When a child takes their first steps, they begin to walk on their own. Yaka protects their feet both inside and out with its rubber sole, while giving them the freedom to feel the ground and gain confidence, step by step.
